Best Epdm Liquid Butyl Rubber Roof Coating

Best Epdm Liquid Butyl Rubber Roof Coating

Why is Liquid Butyl Rubber the best choice?

The best roof coatings are not applied to your roof if liquid butyl rubber is not being used. It has established itself as the best and most adaptable coating on the market through a 25-year track record of success.

Compared to other coatings, liquid butyl rubber has a thicker consistency that produces a 20-mil film thickness. To reach the same thickness as other coatings, it can take 2 or 3 layers. The chemistry of the drying process is one of the key features that makes liquid butyl rubber so distinctive. Our coating and your roof merge to form one whole when the product dries due to chemical cross-linking that occurs. Additionally, the product will drive any trapped air throughout the drying process up to the surface (in other types of roof coatings).Other coatings, particularly elastomeric and water-based coatings, have the propensity to break after a few years for this reason. Our liquid butyl rubber can withstand any roof that expands and contracts as a result of temperature fluctuations because of its 500% elongation and over 1520 psi tensile strength. A seamless, smooth membrane is what you have after the product dries.

Compared to other coatings on the market, liquid butyl rubber can be applied directly to a wider variety of roof types without the use of specific primers. It has consistently been the top roof coating suggested by contractors across the USA. It is a practical and durable option and a tested substitute for roof replacement.

Applying Liquid Rubber

The manner of application depends depend on the size of your roof. In general, a squeegee and roller should be used for roofs smaller than 5000 square feet. A 1/4-inch nap roller, a long handle rubber squeegee, an electric drill (a cordless drill won’t work), and xylene or mineral spirits for cleanup are required. Assuming you have the necessary equipment, you should think about using an airless sprayer for major applications larger than 5000 square feet.

Any temperature can be used to apply liquid rubber. To ensure that it will dry in 3 hours, we advise applying it on a day when the temperature is 55 or above. It’s okay if the temperature drops below 50 because the product won’t keep drying until the daytime high of 50. You can still work with the product, but it will take longer to cure than it would in cooler weather.

Liquid Rubber (Butyl) has a five-year shelf life. Products that are not kept at room temperature or that have passed their expiration date are not our responsibility.

Why recoating your outdated EPDM flat roof with liquid rubber is the solution

1: Two materials for flat roofs that work well together

In addition to sharing the same chemical as its bigger brother EPDM, liquid rubber EPDM also has a nearly identical design. This means that you receive the legacy of more than 50 years of EPDM, but in a liquid that cures to create a smooth, durable membrane. It is simpler to convince quotes that your system is the best because customers are familiar with the EPDM name and the prestige and durability that go along with it.

2: Easy application

A liquid rubber roof can be applied directly on EPDM rubber sheets, waterproofing the roof and providing years of protection for any exposed seams. There isn’t any weird matting covering the entire roof, and there isn’t any primer to mix. Simply cover the EPDM seams with butyl tape. By making the application process as short and simple as possible, you’ll have more time for other jobs.

3: Spend less on repairs for flat roofs

You don’t need a primer or tonnes of reinforcing matting, in contrast to the competition. There is no need to purchase any additional pricey materials to waterproof surrounding upstands and details. Quicker work also means less time spent on site, which can reduce the amount of time needed to hire scaffolding and edge protection.

4: Win bids with a reputable EPDM rubber roofing history

You may rely on the trusted history of EPDM rubber whenever you talk to a potential client or visit a roof to provide a quote. Liquid Rubber, which is available exclusively from Alltimes Coatings (that’s us) in the UK, is the only liquid form of real chemically cured EPDM. This implies that you can show up at the location with a distinctive item that will give you an advantage over the competitors.

5: Callbacks are infrequent with a liquid rubber roof

Don’t be concerned about being called back to handle a leak; instead, move on to other projects. You should only need to make one site visit due to EPDM’s great dependability. The new rubber membrane is not only very robust, but you have also eliminated all weaknesses with a liquid solution. This means there are substantially fewer chances of a leak, allowing you to focus on landing the lucrative positions you desire.

6: Like the longevity of EPDM rubber roofing

  • Resists ponding water, thus there is no need to be concerned about persistent downpours.
  • Unlike other coatings that embrittle in cold temperatures, this one keeps its flexibility in temperature extremes.
  • Outstanding adherence to EPDM sheets
  • Highly UV-resistant, so it won’t deteriorate with time.
  • immediately watertight

Additional Benefits of Liquid Rubber (Butyl)

One clear advantage is its strong resistance to ultraviolet and ozone radiation as well as its chemical bonding capabilities. Once dried, it is entirely odorless and puncture resistant.

Not yet persuaded? Ponding water, as those of us with flat roofs are aware, is the enemy. Liquid Rubber, however, is capable of withstanding perpetual submersion in water, 365 days a year. Find another product that lives up to that claim, we dare you. In the course of our manufacture, there are no shortcuts. The use of only the best materials ensures the long-term durability of the roofs for our clients. Additionally, we put products through several tests the following products to make sure they adhere to all requirements before they leave our warehouse.
